Anstruther Car Share
Thinking differently about the way we use our cars to cut the costs of motoring and provide a cheap, upfront and reliable alternative to owning a car as well as cutting down on CO2 emmisions. We are being assisted by Carplus and the Scottish Government to set up a local car share organisation. Join us and share the ride.

Dumpster diving
Picked up a couple interesting hitchers on the way to St A. From Dundee. One guy said he had lived on food from waste bins in Edinburgh for a year. Good quality free food saving tonnes going to landfill can't be bad. He pointed to http://trashwiki.org/en/Main_Page for the best sites. Might give it a go!

Today's Car chat
Following on from last nights premier of St Andrews Uni, 600 years Film narrated by Sean Connery there was a discussion about where St Andrews bones actually lie. An elbow was given to Edinburgh a few years ago and there might be a tooth about too according to car chat.

What is a Car Share ?
Carsharing is becoming increasingly popular across the UK with Edinburgh having the biggest Carshare outside of London with around 300 cars. Its easy to use, cuts down massively on costs and helps our tiny roads become free of parked cars. We are doing things a little differently in Anstruther by also running a Rideshare for commuters going to St Andrews and Dundee.
- Initially a pool of 2 cars - a 5 and a 7 seater
- Centrally parked (within about 5 mins walk of all housing)
- Pay for time booked and distance travelled - monthly billing
- Booked by the hour (or day), available 24/7
- Book on the internet
- Uses telematics, smart card access
- A 5 day a week commuter rideshare to St Andrews and Dundee
How does it work ?
1) Car share
2) Rideshare
- Join – sign contract, pass DVLA check
- Book – internet (or phone)
- Access – smart card
- Use - for an hour or a few days
- Return to parking base – trip record
2) Rideshare
- Join - sign contract and pass DVLA check unless non - driver
- Book your seat a day or a year in advance and from 1 to 5 days a week
- Travel at a regular set time (for example leave Anstruther at 8am and Dundee at 6pm)
- Enjoy the social...
